The Enigma Ignite

The race is on to gain military dominance on the battlefield!

Global leaders demand the latest technology improvements to protect their soldiers in combat. Technologists are pulling out all the stops to use nanotechnology, dynamic programming algorithms, and drones for high-end field communications.

However, some guerrilla radicals are inserting themselves as middlemen and injecting chaos.

Texas university professor Su Lin quietly works in her animal husbandry field of study. Creative unconventional communication techniques place her in the cross hairs of multiple interested parties. Her research of nanotechnology, coupled with hybrid programming, earns her unwanted attention.

What does research into improving animal husbandry have in common with high-tech military communications?

Great ideas are often adapted in different ways from the original intent.

Keith Austin Avery, a U.S. defense contractor, uncovers new technology and leading-edge applications that draws the attention of a powerful terrorist group with traumatic consequences. Will he be forced to give up confidential knowledge or is all this information already on the Darknet?

R-Group members, Petra and Jacob, are engaged to locate the extremists and identify government corruption before more people die. Software tripwires in the new code start a dire race against time to save lives.

Award-winning authors, Breakfield and Burkey, deliver a solid espionage thriller. It builds a satisfying balance of technology, tension, surprisingly sensitive romance, and the blurred lines surrounding the age-old conflict between good and evil in the middle of today’s cyber playing field.

About Shirley Harris-Slaughter

I love old buildings and history. That's why I ended up writing about the history that surrounded me all of my life - "Our Lady of Victory, the Saga of an African-American Catholic Community." Plus our church had closed and the school is torn down, so I felt it was imperative that we preserve the history or it would be lost forever.

  1. Rox and Charles, I’m curious. Not that I have seen a pattern, but do all of your stories have some sort of connection or reference back to Texas? And, for you, is it easier to tell your stories around the state that you call home?

    Shirley, thanks for hosting!

  3. Hi, Shirley. Thank you for featuring Rox and Charlie on your excellent blog.

The Enigma Series is fiction, I know, but there is so much truth within the story. Congratulations on an excellent series, Rox and Charlie!

Hi Rox, Hi Charles, Hi Shirley,
Rox and Charles, Excuse me for being late to visit you on Shirley’s blog, but I used Sundays as my rest day. So enough on that. I first heard about Nano Technology in 2008. I happened to be teaching English to one of the global Chemical companies with its headquarters in Germany. Of course i was fascinated with how they were exoerimenting with Nano and had the privllege of being present at some of the experiments they were doing for a major company here in Europe. It was fascinating. I realized then that technology was moving much faster than most individuals could even comprehend. So, I am looking forward to your new book Enigma Ignite, and since I am becoming addiccted to audio books, I have put this one on my audio TBR list.
I also love your book trailer. It sounds like Cyndi Lauper singing, but I am not sure. I love her deep, heavy way of expressing the lyrics in her song.

Shirley, thank you for hosting Rox and Charles. The presentation is very engaging.

Wishing you three a lovely week.

  6. The premise of “The Enigma Ignite,” by co-authors Breakfield and Burkey, is intriguing, particularly because it involves a Texan university professor who quietly works in her animal husbandry field of study. The series is relevant to the global threat of cybersecurity, an area I’m not familiar with. Thank you, Shirley, for sharing the post as part of the RRBC’S ’20 WC&BE SPONSORS BLOG TOUR!

Phil, I hit return in the wrong place, so my response to you is below John’s kind comments.

    • Phil, all of our books begin with the most terrifying four words that the other person dreads to hear: I have an idea…:-)
The story is based on a particular technology flaw with a distorted cyber renegade pulling the strings for the story premise. Then we mix in all the people we’ve known fully outfitted with their personality disorders and the volia! Our own brand of literary chaos is launched into over-drive.
We are confident you will enjoy this one as well as the others.

Rox, I loved the mind-bending trailer and had to watch it twice. The book blurb is also interesting and calling out to me. Shirley, thank you for hosting this fine couple. I wish you all good fortune and to be well!

Hi Phil, what a great question. We have each worked with so many different technology innovators, but friends in the military actually gave us some of the details of how this is used to mask exchanges. We leveraged these two ‘bad boys’ one of which crossed Charles’ path. He had two brothers and always felt when with them what one wouldn’t think of or try the other one would. It is the moral convictions that come into play that make this story exciting for us. Hope that helps, Phil

Shirley thank you again for hosting.

  12. Thanks for hosting this tour, Shirley. This timely book, although allegedly fiction, could well be truer than fiction! Rox and Charles, I’m looking forward to reading this book as well. I really need to get cracking on so many books! (True confessions: I fall back on reading when baseball season starts, especially when my team is leading their division–the season is young and I don’t expect it to continue!)
