DAY 12

This is the Day!

Just got up and started my bath water. Must get everything done before I head for the viewing. Victor said family needs to get there ahead of time and he considers me part of the family. He said to be there at 3:30 PM.

I read 60 more pages of SPARE late yesterday then put it down because of eye strain. It is very good. He is giving us a taste of life as a prince. Step by step. I felt like I was at the dorm with him. Descriptions were so vivid. We certainly never got a glimpse of who he really is from the British press. So, he wants to tell his side. Stephen Colbert had the highest rating of his show’s history because he had Prince Harry as a guest. They say his book is right up there with Harry Potter. Maybe if the press would stop assassinating his character, people wouldn’t be so interested in him. You always want what you can’t have.

I’m going to get my protein shake, get dressed and prepare to meet up with Victor and family. I will see you guys later.

Over and out!

About Shirley Harris-Slaughter

I love old buildings and history. That's why I ended up writing about the history that surrounded me all of my life - "Our Lady of Victory, the Saga of an African-American Catholic Community." Plus our church had closed and the school is torn down, so I felt it was imperative that we preserve the history or it would be lost forever.

  1. I have mixed feelings about reading Spare. I’ll try it when it pops up at one of my discount sites for books, more out of curiosity than anything else.

  2. Hi Shirley! I recognize the viewing must have been difficult…I’m keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. It’s also interesting to hear about SPARE. What a life he was born into!

    • Actually, the viewing wasn’t as difficult because they did such a good job of making her look so natural. Nothing about these viewings is something you really want to do because it’s so hard to come to terms with death. I’ve learned to handle it.

Prince Harry was always my favorite royal after Diana. He is just like his mother and has so much empathy and charm. I just loved him and watched him grow into his own in spite of being treated so poorly.

Hi, Shirley. Praying for you today and for Gwen’s family. Saying goodbye is always difficult, especially to someone you’ve been close to.

You’ve stirred my interest in reading Spare. The rebels in a family are usually very creative and strong-willed. I know from experience. The media spotlight can’t be easy for anyone to live in, especially when opinions are so diverse and strong on both sides of the issues. I hope this book will clarify some misconceptions.

    Blessings,
    Patty

    • Patty, its good to find out something in order to know what you are talking about. I’m afraid the British Media is spreading propaganda by feeding people misinformation which they actually believe. Score one for Rupert Murdock, a man with too much power and too much time on his hands.

    • Yvette, it wasn’t as bad as I thought. They made Gwen up to look soft and almost natural. She looked like her old self and that was comforting. The family was so nice and warm. They were glad that I came, so that put me at ease. I left before it got too dark because I don’t feel comfortable driving at night. Thanks for the hugs.
