DAY 16

ANOTHER DAY OF BLOGGING

I went to bed last night late. So I got up real late this morning. Couldn’t believe how long I slept in. I must have needed it.

Martin Luther King Day was celebrated yesterday at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. I didn’t go. It will be the first time that I missed it. I spent most of the day taking it easy and playing catchup.

After I got myself together the first thing I did was go through my to-do list and checking each item off. My first time visit to an eye specialist requires that I fill out an application, so I finished that. Made my annual doctor appointment. Did some follow-up requirements for my brother. If I don’t write stuff down, I will forget it.

I tackled my email with all the bloggers waiting for me to respond to their posts. There must be about 250 emails that I need to catch up with. It’s getting out of hand, but I will finish them sooner or later.

I’m starting to relax a little more today. I’m going to finish up my reading and continue trying to relax some more.

See you tomorrow everybody!

About Shirley Harris-Slaughter

I love old buildings and history. That's why I ended up writing about the history that surrounded me all of my life - "Our Lady of Victory, the Saga of an African-American Catholic Community." Plus our church had closed and the school is torn down, so I felt it was imperative that we preserve the history or it would be lost forever.

  1. Wanda, your comments put a smile on my face this a.m. I’m a firm believer in pampering after going through some really stressful times in my life.

    Hi, Shirley,
Listen. to your body and take the time to rest.
I’m behind and have been behind since Monday, and I’m just catching up.
But I’m not going to let it stress me out.
    Take care.

  3. I also love lists and crossing off things I’ve done. My lists have gotten much shorter over the years, and I don’t believe I could handle the long lists of my youth.

  4. I’m glad you are resting today and yet still being productive, Shirley!

  5. Shirley, I’m glad you gave yourself a break and a bit of pampering. Creativity needs that, so you can think of it as encouraging your “muse.” Now you will have more energy to go about your busy week. May you have a good week, Shirley!

I think we forget how important it is to relax now and then, Shirley. Catching up is a dream I’ve been pursuing for years. There isn’t enough time in a day to get everything done, so some things get put off, and the cycle keeps repeating. Thanks for reminding me to schedule some relaxation into the days that are already too short for everything. I guess I do relax when we’re watching our movie. Too much. I tend to fall asleep.

    Blessings!

  7. Catching up? What’s that, Shirley? LOL

Glad to hear you pampered yourself a little by sleeping in. You certainly DID need it. Time to treat yourself a little after taking care of so many others for so long.
