DAY 19

FAMILY

I was debating whether to do this post right now or not do it. My sister, Joyce, is in ICU and so all I will be doing is waiting. When my son gets here, we will go to be with her.

Had to go out early this morning in order to fax a document for my brother. Trying to keep up with guardianship duties. Also had to make monthly contacts to members of my organization. Seems like when it rains it pours. I am blogging during this lull time.

I ate some guacamole spread on English Muffin and had my protein drink when I got up this morning. My online grocery order arrived early so had to rise early. Glad that’s all done.

I was planning on doing a normal blog and talk a little bit about my new release since it is the Book of the Month. Title is Joyce Winifred Harris-Burkes: HOW I REMEMBER MY MAMA. I’m putting it out there for now. Raters Not Haters is coming up on Saturday 11:00 AM CT. I plan on being there. Hope to see you all too.

Well, I’m going to get ready to go see my sister. See you soon!

About Shirley Harris-Slaughter

I love old buildings and history. That's why I ended up writing about the history that surrounded me all of my life - "Our Lady of Victory, the Saga of an African-American Catholic Community." Plus our church had closed and the school is torn down, so I felt it was imperative that we preserve the history or it would be lost forever.

  1. I’m so sad to hear your sister is in the hospital, and I was praying for her. I should know by now that god never listens to me. This is my lame way of trying to cheer you up. I hope she comes home soon.

  4. Sorry to hear about your sister, Shirley. Is she named for your mother? I will miss Raters Not Haters tomorrow because I will be at Red Sox Winter Weekend. I will listen to the recording, though.

I read your story about your mom and enjoyed it very much. Congrats on its being the book of the month! Well deserved. Hope all goes well with your sister.
