About Shirley Harris-Slaughter

I love old buildings and history. That's why I ended up writing about the history that surrounded me all of my life - "Our Lady of Victory, the Saga of an African-American Catholic Community." Plus our church had closed and the school is torn down, so I felt it was imperative that we preserve the history or it would be lost forever.

I have a couple of Robbie’s books, but not this one. I think my granddaughter would enjoy this one as she loves big animals. I will have to see about getting it for her. Nice post.

Hello Robbie and everybody. Something is causing your comments not to come through and I did see some comments that are approved but not showing up here. Nonnie alerted me to the issue. I sent wordpress a help email. I’m upset that I can’t call anybody at the moment. So waiting to hear from them. I appreciate your being patient until this issue is resolved.

  15. Robbie, my goodness that elephant is adorable! I see Pat’s question, and also wondered if these cute creatures are edible (but who would want to bite them)? Hope your tour is going well! Shirley, thanks for hosting Robbie.

    • Hi Maura Beth, I am glad you like the elephant. I did enjoy making African animals for this story. You can eat the elephant as he is made of fondant and I use edible sugar glue. They are very sweet though so the kids usually only eat a little bit of the figurines. You can also keep them for quite a long time.

    Hi Robbie, Hi Shirley,
Robbie, the elephant looks cute. My question is whether or not ia person can eat it or is it for decoration only. The tusks look delicious.

Shirley, thank you so much for hosting Robbie today.
