DAY 7

A word from WordPress Support

I just received word back from WordPress about the missing comments from some blogs during this blogging challenge. I must say, it has been a challenge. Here is their feedback.

Thank you for reaching out to WordPress.com support!

I’d be happy to help you with the following:

I’m getting complaints that my guests’ comments are not appearing, especially if they are lengthy. I have no idea how to fix it.

It happened on this weblink https://shirleyslaughter.com/2023/01/03/rrbc_org-rrbc-day-2-of-a-day-in-my-life/

I know its happening on another site as well. I am doing a 30-day blogging challenge with members of my book club.

After checking your website comments, I don’t see any issue with it. I tested by adding very long comments, which are showing perfectly in the comment lists.

Here is a direct link: https://prnt.sc/kGnHAEEELgqK.

If anyone faces an issue adding comments, please ask them to log into their WordPress.com before adding them, so their comment doesn’t get marked as spam.

Rest assured, everything is working like a charm, and there is no problem on your website.

Also, I wish you very good luck on your 30-day blogging challenge.

I hope this helps! Don’t hesitate to get back to us if you need anything else; we will be happy to help.

Warm regards,
Shameem Reza

And there you have it. This is wordpress’ response to my inquiry. I hope you all understand and share your comments below. I think we’re good if we follow these instructions.

I just got back in the house from church and lunch and got started on this post right away.

Tonight, I’m going to watch the Prince Harry interview with Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes at 7:30 pm eastern time.

About Shirley Harris-Slaughter

I love old buildings and history. That's why I ended up writing about the history that surrounded me all of my life - "Our Lady of Victory, the Saga of an African-American Catholic Community." Plus our church had closed and the school is torn down, so I felt it was imperative that we preserve the history or it would be lost forever.

  1. I’m happy WordPress is confident in its abilities, but I never put much faith in social media authority figures. I hope it works out well in the end.

  3. Shirley, this made me wonder if I am prompted to sign in to my WordPress account every time, or not, but I will watch for that now. By the way, I like your banner across your blog-it makes me feel like I’m breathing in fragrant, mossy, forest air. So nice.

    Hi Shirley,
I hear what he or she is saying. I know my comment was extremely long and I believe it ended up in your spam because it was so long. The reason I say so, is because you had problems posting on my blog two or three days in a row.
When I went into my blog to clear out my spam, I found all five of the comments you had written to me.
That’s no problem for me though because I plan to send you an email this week concerning the blog post the member in your church and the one with your step daughter. After I had posted the one about your church member, I regretted having written it on your blog, so was glad when it didn’t appear. Not that the comment was embarrassing but it was very personal with my point of view. So you will receive an email from me this week, and thanks for sharing the info from WP.
    Have a lovely day,
    Shalom aleichem

    • Maybe I should check for spam Pat. As soon as I can understand what goes on in this new back office. They’ve changed it to where I don’t recognize it anymore. I can still switch back to the old format if I get too frustrated. We are working it out one way or the other.

Hi, Shirley. Their answer wasn’t very satisfactory, was it? I hope you don’t have any more problems with the comments. On some WordPress blogs, I don’t have to fill out a questionnaire and prove I have a WordPress account each time I leave a comment. I do on others, including yours. I have no idea if that happens to other people on mine, nor would I know how to fix it if that’s the case. Each one is so different. I do wish they would at least be consistent.

    Blessings,
    Patty

    • Patty, I never encountered being asked to fill out a questionnaire and prove I have a wordpress account. And I didn’t know you were having that problem on my blog. That’s not good. But do make sure that you are signed in. Although I don’t think you can do anything unless you are signed in. So, you’re right, that answer wasn’t satisfactory. I don’t think they really care.
